The West Bay swim is also known as the Portrush one way swim. It is a challenge: a deep water start in cool water that will only have started to warm up after the winter, with conditions that can be tough in May, and is for skins swimmers only.
Swimmers board a boat in the harbour, to be transported across to the west of the bay, where swimmers will jump off the boat to enter the water. Swimmers will swim straight across the bay to finish at the harbour wall by the harbour slip
This year's swim will take place on the 28th May, as part of the Raft Race weekend festivities. Registration for the swim will start at 13.00 outside the yacht club with a mandatory safety briefing taking place just up the steps at the harbour mouth at 14.00
Numbers are limited for this swim, due to the numbers we can fit on the boat.
This swim is a traditional skins swim. Entry fee £25. There will be an additional charge of £5 for swimmers who are not ILDSA members to cover insurance. Closing date of entries is 25th May, at 23.59. Online entries only.
