Ireland water polo has published the fourth version of the 2018 / 2019 fixtures (1 October 2018).

The fixtures are subject to change. Up to date fixtures can be found on the Ireland Water Polo website. The fixtures section of the Cú Chulainn website will be updated shortly with details of all of the competitions that we are invovled in.

If you're a player or the parent of a player, please check the fixtures and make a note of all of the dates and times that you should keep free. If you have any questions, let us know.

• Irish Senior Cup Qualifier: Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 January, NAC Dublin

• Irish Senior Cup: Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 April, NAC Dublin

Training times for 2018/2019 season

Senior

Pre-season training starts on Tuesday 14th August (9-10) and Thursday 16th August (8.30 to 9.30).

Pre-season is open to all players aged 15 and above who are interested in Division 1 or Division 3 senior men's polo.

The National Leagues will commence on the weekend of 15th and 16th September. When the fixtures have been published, senior players will be notified and the fixtures posted on this site.

Junior

Sessions will resume the week commencing the Monday 3rd September. The Tuesday evening session in BRA resumes on Tuesday 19th September.

The U16 League, which Cu Chulainn have entered, will commence on the weekend of 8th and 9th of September.

Registration

Registration will be available at all sessions throughout September. Every member who is competing in matches must register with the club by filing out the club membership form and paying the annual registration fee before the end of September. Ulster Skills Camps

Ulster Water Polo are running a number of skills camps during the summer months.

Boys and Girls U11 and U13

• Sunday 29th July
• U11, registration 3.30pm, pool session 4-6pm (skills and mini polo games) Athlete criteria – proficient mini/maxi polo player
• U13 , registration 4.45pm, classroom/warm-up session 5-6pm, pool session 6-7.45pm
• Athlete criteria – able to swim 4 lengths without stopping and proficient in deep water.

Boys U15 and U17

• Sun 5th August, 4-8 pm , Bangor Aurora
• Fri 7th September, 7.30-9.30pm, Grove
• £20 for one session or £30 for both sessions
• The Ulster Team will be selected from these sessions.

Mini & Maxi Polo Games

The following mini and maxi polo games have been organised between now and the end of the season:

Mini (U9)

Grove Lesiure Centre
Friday 1st June
7.30 to 8.30

Maxi (U11)

Grove Lesiure Centre
Friday 25th May and Friday 8th June
7.30 to 9.00

Rules for mini and maxi

•Players allowed to catch with two hands
•Encouraged to throw one hand....but not hard and fast rule
•Walking is allowed without possession of ball
•Players must swim whilst in possession of the ball
•No sinking the ball
•Ball must fully cross the goal line for a goal to stand
•Games played 7-a-side ...unless one team has fewer players i.e. if one team has only 6 players then that game must be played 6-a-side, to provide a fair and balanced game
•All games will be scored (goals count)

Ulster Christmas Matches

Ulster Water Polo have announced details of this years schedule of junior matches in the run up to a Christmas.  

The matches will take place in the Grove Leisire Centre on Friday evenings throughout December:

Friday 1st    U9s          7.30 to 8.30pm

Friday 8th    U11's        7.30 to 9.00pm

Friday 15th U13's        7.30 to 9.30pm

Cú Chulainn will be entering teams in all of the above age groups.
